The Kore Design® Adjustable Height Wobble Chair is offered in four sizes

The gently rounded base moves with the sitter in all directions then naturally comes to rest in the upright position when the sitter stands up. Easy access 360˚ actuator ring is used to raise and lower the seat height. Height adjustments can be made while sitting on the seat. Height Adjustable Stools are also equipped with “bounce action”. Reduced pressure in the piston allows for a gentle bouncing “pogo” effect of the seat. Patented Anti-Tip Safety Ring on the base of the Wobble Chair prevents tipping over and falls. Seat is manufactured with Kore Antimicrobial Protection- FDA approved Smart Plastic Antimicrobial which offers broad- spectrum protection and has been tested to reduce up to 99.9% of common bacteria including E. coli, listeria and S. aureus. The seat surface is easily wiped clean. Sitting for homework, reading, drawing, eating or board games is no longer a sedentary activity when the Wobble is added!

Research has shown that all of us can benefit from active sitting. Individuals with special needs may have even more reasons to use an active seat.

Moving and stretching address key aspects of UDL (Universal Design for Learning), including enhancing self-regulation through stress reduction, decreasing hyperactivity, and increasing focus. Micro-movements send more vital blood and oxygen to the brain, keeping the mind ready to learn!

• Some people with special needs have a hard time understanding where their body is in space (proprioception). To compensate, their bodies stay in constant motion to give their brain the necessary feedback to get a better sense of their body position.
• Some individuals with special needs engage in movement for other reasons related to sensory integration (the body’s ability to take in and process information from the environment through the senses). Rocking can provide a calming effect for children with autism. Movement can act as an outlet for individuals with high energy such as children with ADHD. Continuous movement while sitting relaxes the right side of the brain, leading to better focus.
• Low muscle tone can cause a person to lean into support such as the sides and back of a traditional chair. Heavy reliance on support with decreased muscle activation during sitting leads to poor strength and endurance of postural muscles. The Wobble Chair encourages consistent activation of core muscles to maintain upright sitting thereby increasing strength and endurance of these muscles. Sedentary “slumping” is prevented and therapeutic sitting with improved posture happens without the sitter even realizing it!
