The Convaid Cruiser Scout combines all the great features of the Cruiser – lightweight, compact folding, 30-degree fixed seat tilt with rugged upgrades for families who plan to use their special needs stroller outdoors for off roading excursions. The Scout turns the Cruiser into an all-terrain adaptive push chair that can handle park trails, dirt roads, gravel, hard sand beaches and more!
The Scout comes standard with several features the regular Convaid Cruiser does not
The Cruiser Scout pediatric wheelchair also includes the features of the regular Cruiser like the 30-degree fixed seat tilt which uses gravity to assist with postural control, making it ideal for users with limited upper body strength. The Self-Tensio® self-tensioning seating system enhances sitting tolerance and neutral pelvic positioning which works in conjunction with the Tension Adjustable Back and the Scout’s Anatomic Back designed to provide optimal postural support and comfort with contouring that follows the natural curves of the spine. It also has five years of growth capability through its tool-free seat depth extension system.
The Cruiser Scout comes in four sizes (12, 14, 16, and 18) for users weighing up to 250 lbs. An optional Transit Package is available, meeting WC19 transport safety standards and allows the Cruiser Scout to be used with a vehicle’s wheelchair tie down system. The attractive, highly durable Cruiser Scout also offers numerous positioning accessories for unique support needs and it is made in the USA.
In Step 1 , select your Cruiser Scout’s size and upholstery. You have two primary upholstery choices: Convaid Standard Fabric for comfort or Textilene for durability. Both are Heavy Duty Reinforced Upholstery for the Cruiser Scout. The upholstery is removable, washable, and comes in various colors, which you can preview in the Photo Gallery. Refer to the Size Chart Section to ensure a proper fit with room for growth. Convaid Upholstery for sizes 12, 14 and 16 also comes with built-in Zipper Pockets in the back and sides to add your own additional padding and support if desired. Pictures are in the Photo Gallery.
Also in Step 1 , you can purchase the Transit Version of the Cruiser Scout. This version includes Transit Anchor Brackets for use with vehicles with wheelchair tie-downs. The Headrest Extension, Trunk/Pelvic Positioning options, and Foot Positioners are required for the Transit Version. The Cruiser Scout’s Transit Version has passed WC19 & ISO7176 transport safety standards.
In Step 2 , you'll select Trunk and Pelvic Supports . The Cruiser Scout includes a 2-Point Positioning Belt as Standard, unless you’ve chosen the Transit Model. The Transit Model requires a 3-Point Positioning Belt and your choice of an H-Harness or Full Torso Vest.
Here are your options for trunk and pelvic support
In Step 3 , you can choose an optional Support Cushion for your Cruiser Scout. The Upholstery of the Seat Cushion (Textilene Fabric vs. Convaid Fabric) must match the Upholstery you chose for the push chair.
Here are your cushion options
* An optional Incontinence Liner can also be added in Step 3. This internal component sits directly beneath the upholstery to protect the foam.
In Step 4 , choose your optional Head Support and Headrest Extension. (Note: The Transit version requires a Headrest Extension.) See the Photo Gallery for images.

In Step 5 , you'll select Foot Supports . Refer to the chart below and the Photo Gallery for details. (Note: The Transit version requires Foot Positioners.)

In Step 6 , you'll select your Tire Options . You can view pictures in the Photo Gallery, find standard pneumatic tire details under the Features Tab and read the Understanding Tires article for guidance. You can also add Front Wheel Caster Locks. These improve stability, especially on uneven or loose outdoor terrain, when engaged.
In Step 7 , choose your Push Handle Style: one-piece or two-piece (refer to the Photo Gallery for visuals). The Cruiser Scout comes standard with an Attendant Hand Brake(s). Similar to a bicycle hand brake, they help control forward motion on inclines by connecting to the wheel lock. The one-piece handle is also height and angle adjustable to comfortably fit various height caregivers.
