The Coaster Scout is Convaid’s newest addition to their fixed seat tilt family of special needs push chairs. The difference is, on the Coaster Scout the angle of the seat can be set at 10, 20, or 30 degrees for customized positioning support and comfort. This adjustment is made with tools and helps meet the user’s unique or changing needs. The Coaster Scout also comes with an adjustable reclining back with 4 different fixed recline angles. This adjustment is also made with tools. These features are standard on this lightweight, robust, compact, clamshell folding frame whose durability is as you have come to expect from Convaid.
The Coaster Scout offers up to 5 in. of seat depth growth in all four frame sizes with 12 in., 14 in., 16 in., and 18 in. seat widths. It accommodates users with mild to moderate postural support needs weighing up to 170 lbs. (77 kg.). Standard Convaid upholstery on the Coaster Scout is offered in a variety of colors. The two-step clamshell folding design makes getting this lightweight stroller frame packed into the trunk of the car a breeze. The Coaster Scout is easily unfolded in one intuitive motion. The Coaster Scout is the perfect family-friendly chair to get everyone out for an adventure.
In Required Step 1, you will choose the size and model of your Coaster Scout. The Coaster Scout now offers an All-Terrain Option for navigating rugged terrain. To understand details regarding distinguishing features between the two models please go to the Features Tab and Photo Gallery under the main product image. A picture of color choices can also be found there. For sizing help, please go to the Size Chart tab to choose a size that will provide a proper fit and allow for growth.
Also in Required Step 1, you will have the opportunity to purchase the Transit Version of the Coaster Scout. The Transit Version comes with Transit Anchor Brackets to be used in vehicles equipped with wheelchair tie downs. Other Required Items include a Headrest Extension, Trunk Positioning H-Harness, 3-Point Pelvic Positioning Belt and Foot Positioners (size choice required) that will be chosen over the next two steps. Transit versions of the Coaster Scout have been successfully tested to the WC19 & ISO7176 transport safety standards. Please refer to the Features Tab for a complete listing of all features for each model of the Coaster.
In Required Step 2, you will choose the seat depth range that you would like for your Coaster Scout.
In Required Step 3, you will choose the angle of seat tilt and angle of recline that you want your Coaster Scout to be set at when delivered. You will be able to adjust both of these features with tools as desired. Pictures in the Photo Gallery under the main product image will again be helpful for this selection. In Required Step 4, you will be given the opportunity to select a Headrest and if desired a Headrest Extension. Please refer to pictures in the Photo Gallery under the main product image. Please Note: If you choose a Transit version of the Coaster Scout model, a Headrest Extension is required. Padded Headwings- are height adjustable and provide soft foam lateral support for midline positioning of the head. Occi Headwings- provide sub-occipital (below natural protrusion on back of skull) support to help position the head in midline without excessive extension of the neck. Occi Headwings allow side to side movement of the head without obstructing the user’s line of vision. Headrest Extension- extends back height to provide head support for taller individuals and is required if the Transit version is chosen. In Required Step 5, you will be given the opportunity to select Trunk and Pelvic Supports. The Coaster Scout comes standard with a 2-Point Positioning Belt unless you have chosen the Transit Model. The Transit Model requires a 3-Point Positioning Belt and H-Harness. 3-Point Positioning Belt- with depth adjustable crotch improves the ability to maintain proper position of the pelvis and limits sliding forward in the seat. H-Harness- provides anterior trunk support to maintain upper body position and helps limit fatigue. Full Torso Vest- Select this for even more trunk support. It helps the user maintain correct midline upper body position, prevents slumping and assists with shoulder retraction (keeping the shoulders back). The user is kept comfortable and securely in place. The vest is easily adjusted and detached. In Required Step 6, you will choose Foot Supports. Please refer to chart below and pictures in the Photo Gallery under main product image for details. Please Note: If you choose a Transit version of the Coaster Scout, you will not be able to select a 1 Piece Angle Adjustable Flip-Up Footplate + Padded Footbox. Foot Positioners are required for Transit and Foot Positioners cannot be used with the Padded Footbox.
In Required Step 4, you will be given the opportunity to select a Headrest and if desired a Headrest Extension. Please refer to pictures in the Photo Gallery under the main product image. Please Note: If you choose a Transit version of the Coaster Scout model, a Headrest Extension is required.
