FOR AGES 8 YEARS – ADULTHOOD
Fits Inseam: 22 – 34 in. (57 – 87 cm)
Riding a bike is a life-enhancing skill that everyone should have a chance to experience. But many people never learn to ride a bike. Some people with cognitive, developmental, or physical disabilities are told that they probably can’t ride a bike. Others simply didn’t learn as a child and the thought of doing so as an adult seems difficult and intimidating. For all of these people, the Strider 20x Sport is a great solution! It’s the perfect learn to ride tool.
The 20x Sport is a Balance Bike. In its simplest form, it has no pedals. This no-pedal balance bike offers older children, starting at approximately 8 years old through adults, a way to learn about balancing on two wheels and steering, completely at their own pace. Riders can put their feet to ground when they need to. This allows them to rapidly build confidence in the process that they completely control. The 20x Sport also comes standard with Front and Rear Hand-Lever-Operated Drum Brakes for stopping forward motion of the bike. Gradually and safely learning about balance and steering before the introduction of pedals builds the rider’s confidence and coordination without fear of falling. Instead, a sense of confidence and adventure is fostered while learning.
Riders will experience the feel of leaning and how steering affects the balance of the bike. Most "walk" the Strider 20x balance bike to start. As they feel more comfortable, walking turns into running and then to feet up for gliding. Handlebars are angle adjustable. Seat is height adjustable using a quick release clamp- no tools are necessary. The Strider 20x Sport was designed with a low stand-over-height, giving it a low center of gravity, making it ultra-stable to teach balance first. The bike also has a kickstand.
A 4-bolt Pedal Kit (sold separately in accessory section) can be attached to the 20x Sport once the rider is proficient in balancing. The relaxed geometry provides comfort to stride around the pedals and then place feet up to pedal with ease.
Please Note: This is a different Pedal Kit than the Pedal Kit that attaches to the Strider 14x. Pedal Kits are NOT interchangeable between different size Strider bikes.
The Strider Balance Bike works on the development of motor skills, specifically balance, strength, endurance and coordination. Often, increases in self-confidence and social interaction are a bonus too.
